In short, any electrical installation needs to be safe! Part P applies to fixed electrical installations in dwellings (including gardens and shared amenities in blocks of flats) and applies to many of the typical jobs undertaken by electrical contractors, particularly work carried out in kitchens and bathrooms.
To be able to self-certify that the electrical work complies with Part P (and other applicable parts of the Building Regulations) and, thus, to avoid having to notify, or being subject to inspection by Building Control, I am registered as an approved Part P Competent Contractor.
